NORTH SHORE DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL
TRAINING CLINIC
JUNE 14, 2008

Dragon boats will be seen on the harbor earlier this year. Thanks to financial underwriting by East Bay Suites, the Festival Committee will be able to have a dragon boat training clinic in Grand Marais during the weekend of June 14th. It will be a training opportunity for all levels of participants, from first-time/novice paddlers to experienced dragon boat paddlers, coaches and steerspersons. Both on-land and on-water training will be conducted by members of the Lakehead Canoe Club from Thunder Bay, which is the same organization that leases the boats for use during the Grand Marais festival.

It is just $15 for use of necessary equipment, a day of both on-land and on-water training, as well as a "bonus" paddling opportunity on Sunday for those wanting to participate. The cost also includes a BBQ lunch on Saturday.

For anyone who has wondered if they would enjoy participating in the dragon boat races, this is a great way to get a "taste" of what it involves. For those who have participated in the past, it is a means to improve their skills.
